Not sure what brought me here (I opened this newsletter on a tab days ago hoping to get time to read it) but so glad it did! Thank you for this raw look into your "why." Inspiring and brave!

First of all, congratulations on a Substack milestone Emmanielle. I subscribed to your blog because I enjoy reading what you write and the reflections that you share on things that matter to you. Thank you kindly for the mention, it's wonderful to have meaningful engagement rather the transient 'likes'

Thank you Galina! I appreciate your feedback, I will keep it in mind.

You are welcome, and it is my pleasure to count you as one of Le Journal Curioso readers.

I am always enjoying meaningful conversations, and this platform is offering this without the polarising views, but rather considered dialogue between people, so I am happy such a space exists.

I think polarity can rise anywhere, as sadly people seem to be losing the ability to listen and reflect on opinion of other. Personally I am sad about the demise of twitter, which used to be a good place to exchange opinions and keep up with the news. I hope Substack flourishes and we all enjoy writing here and forming like-minded groups and communities. Glad to have connected with you Emmanuelle

Thank you for sharing your grief & writing journey, Emmanuelle! I signed up after I came across your comment in Amy Odell's chat on Phoebe Philo's launch, which I found very insightful. It summed up the dynamics of it all pretty well and I got curious to see who is behind this sharp commentary:) As someone who is working for clients in luxury fashion myself, I always try to get as many perspectives as possible by other professionals, and yours seems to be a very interesting one. Looking forward to reading your future posts!

Hello Anna,

Welcome to Le Journal Curioso, and thank you for your precious feedback! I am always happy to find other people interested in the fashion industry and ready to have in-depth conversations about it, and that chat was IT! So I am really honoured that you came to find my newsletter through it.

I would definitely love to hear your thoughts as someone working for clients in luxury fashion. One of my goals with the fashion segment is to let fashion professionals be heard, so if interested I'd be more than happy to have a chat with you!

Thank you again!

Emmanuelle, congratulations!! So well deserved. What brought me to your newsletter was your very first post, even before you officially launched the newsletter. I think I loved the way you wrote about grief and mental health. I have been so lucky with grief in that I have yet to lose anyone very close, but I have lost friends, and I have watched loved ones lose very close people, and I have dealt with the grief that comes from close relationships changing and losing parts of them you loved so much. So I loved and felt your writing on that so much. I also loved that you were another woman of colour writing on here, and I've enjoyed getting your perspective on the issues we face, which are different in their specifics, and yet the same in their universality.

I wish you all the best with everything. You are a beautiful writer and I love not only the ideas you share, but also the lyricism in your words.

Thank you Noha!

Grief is so vast, it isn't just about losing a loved one, it is also about the people that are still with us, and even ourselves. There is so much to unpack about it, so I am wondering if I shouldn't do my first chat around it.

I feel you about being a woman of colour. Just like you, I have been looking for us, and I was glad to find you, too. I so agree with you about the issues we face which are different in their specifics, and yet the same in their universality. You said it beautifully. I really hope to see more and more people of colour that are not necessarily based in the West here. It is very much needed.

And thanks a lot for your feedback!

Hi Emmanuelle! Such a beautiful post! There's loads I'd like to comment on, but I'll answer the question, otherwise I might end up doing a micro post here in your comments... Also, thank you for the mention, it is my pleasure. ☺️ Regarding your question... Hmmm, I'm not sure exactly why I subscribed, I felt you had something interesting to tell, at the time you only had one post, but I liked it. Today, I read you because I enjoy it, first, and because I always feel connection, a kind of alignment in our life stories, I usually agree with you, or learn about something. I also enjoy how you talk about your experiences, it is honest and thoughtful. Keep up the good work, it will pay off.

Hi Patty,

Haha, now you are making me curious about the other things you would have commented on!

You're welcome! It was natural for me doing so since you're always so supportive, and I enjoy the little conversation we get to have about the fashion industry.

Thank you for the feedback, it really is useful! I asked the question because sometimes we write, yet we don't know exactly why people are reading us. And since the topics I write about doesn't necessarily appear to be complementary I wanted to understand better what makes people subscribe here.
