Morning! Hope you’re well. You are welcome, and you’ve forced me to consider fashion as a form of activism (I.e., purchasing more non-European brands, identifying and purchasing more brands that have lines tied to various causes, dedicating more spend to independent designers and brands, etc). It’s been a bit an epiphany, and there are a few designers who are in for rude awakening with re to my spend going forward. As such, thank you and know that a seasoned (not old) lady can and does learn new things daily!
Morning! Like I said in my Notes I was so glad to read your comment because that was exactly my goal, to show that fashion can be more than just that frivolous big business that the media want us to believe it is.
It is so nice to learn about your perspective of fashion because people don't realise that, yes fashion is part of capitalism in Western societies, but it is on us to change the trajectory to make it more sustainable by making buying choices like yours.
I’m partially ticked off with myself because I’m no fool, I have an MBA, I’ve lied to myself re: presentable corporate attire, and I should be ashamed for playing into the BS and purposely cutting talented people out of an industry that should be far less myopic.
I’m following your career for the remainder of my career (when I retire, I will be less fashionable) and Know this re your Substack: if nothing more, you’ve shifted my perspective. 🥰
